Welcome to Almost Ancient Pots

A number of years ago, I stumbled upon something new while looking for a class for continuing education units for my horticulture certificate. The time fit my schedue, and off I went to Leu Gardens in Orlando, Florida to take a class in something called Hypertufa.

Two hours into the day, I was hooked. That was nine years ago. I held my first workshop the following year, and soon started making pots for retail sale through local festivals. In 2009, the circle will be complete when I teach my first class at Leu.

I'm still hooked on Hypertufa, and I think you will be, too. The pots are rustic and natural, and they provide a perfect growing environment for your herbs and plants.

My friend Dora, who owns Maggie's Herb Farm, grows her cutting lavender for the restaurant trade in my pots, and watches it thrive year after year. My friend Georgette has taken the workshop twice, and continues to buy more pots and mushroom ornaments every time I see her.

Look around my site. You may see ideas you like. Look for a class at your local botanical garden, come down to Florida and join one of my workshops. The joy of being in Florida is that I work and teach outside year round.

Visit my Events and Workshop pages. And check out my Links to some friends, festivals and organizations. Stop by and visit my little garden. Soon I'll have an online tour for you.

Hypertufa is mud pie making for adults. It's great stress relief - mud therapy so to speak!

This is the "Brown Bag Year" at our house - looking for every way to cut expenses in this challenging time. For you in 2009, I have cut the cost of my workshops, without sacrificing the quality or the fun.

See you soon!
