Welcome to Almost Ancient Pots
A number of years ago, I stumbled upon something new while looking for a class for continuing education units for my horticulture certificate. The time fit my schedue, and off I went to Leu Gardens in Winter Park, to take a class in something called Hypertufa.
Well, about two hours into the day, I was hooked. I had big plans to make pots every day (after my real job), fill up the yard with them, make my own rocks for the pond, etc. That was eight years ago. I held my first workshop the following year, but it took me awhile, and cajoling from friends, to sell my pots retail through local festivals.
I'm still hooked on Hypertufa, and I think you will be, too. The pots are rustic and natural, and they provide a perfect growing environment for your herbs and plants.
My friend Dora, who owns Maggie's Herb Farm, grows her cutting lavender for the restaurant trade in my pots, and watches it thrive year after year. My friend Georgette has taken the workshop twice, and continues to buy more pots and mushroom ornaments every time I see her. My friends Linda and Margaret add to their collection often.
Look around my site. You may see ideas you like. Look for a class at your local botanical garden, come down to Florida and join one of my workshops. The joy of being in Florida is that I work and teach outside year round.
Visit my Events and Workshop pages. And check out my Links to some friends, festivals and organizations. Stop by and visit my little garden, soon I'll have an online tour for you.
Hypertufa is mud pie making for adults. It's great stress relief - mud therapy so to speak!
I also conduct other workshops, including Herbal Treasures, perfect for gifts and gift giving ideas. I will design your herb or flower garden, and even take you on very small group guided tours of nearby botanical gardens and other garden points of interest.
See you soon!
